What is a Geriatric Education Center (GEC)?

Geriatric Education Centers serve local communities by training health professionals in issues unique to older adults.

Established in 1985 by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), there are now approximately 48 funded Geriatric Education Centers in the United States. GECs have trained well over 450,000 health care professionals from all disciplines nationwide to better serve the rapidly expanding older adult population.
